Sun, sand, surf and stitching

What better way to begin the new year than gathering together with friends in a beautiful location to enjoy some stitching, gourmet food and good company. Oh and a few G'nTs too, of course!

The house we stayed in certainly had its quirks but the location was excellent and there was plenty of room for everyone.

First things first - unpack and set up for stitching.

And then relax!

Carole was the first to finish a block on this break, she is really pushing to finish AWS as her sister-in-law is about to have another birthday soon. Beautiful fussy cutting of the leaves Carole :-)

Sofie took advantage of the outdoor facilities.

Carole's hubby is the newest member of the support team and he began his apprenticeship with the Paella dish on the Saturday night.

It was delicious!! As you can see we ate really well this time.

And they cleaned up afterwards!

Here's Sofie's hubby having a well deserved rest. Thanks guys!!

We were very excited to catch up with Lenora of Elm Grove Patchwork at Nullawarre, just 20 mins from Warrnambool on the way to the Great Ocean Road. She was in the process of getting ready for the opening of her new shop but very happily spent the day showing us around her stomping ground. Of course we had to fit in a bit of shopping to start with even though she wasn't officially open. So the G'nT Sisters had the honour of being her first customers. Naturally Lynne had to be the very first and bought fabric for a quilt she is making for her daughter.

As you can see if you look at Linda's (Gum Valley Patchwork) post on the 14/01/2015, Lenora has worked extremely hard to get the shop up and running AND looking wonderful in less than 2 weeks!! Congratulations Lenora. If you are down that way make sure you pop in to say hello to her and maybe have a bit of a browse.....

After the shopping Lenora took Carole and I for the grand tour of the Great Ocean Road. You can see by the photos it was a spectacular day, hardly a cloud in the sky and the breeze kept the temperature down.

Mind you it payed havoc with our hair (The colour co-ordination was a fluke!)

We then went to meet Linda at Gum Valley Patchwork who has a lovely shop in a converted Church at Cooriemungle.

Of course we had to have some Show & Tell (and yes that is the award winning 'Elenor Jean' quilt in the background).

Thank you Lenora for an absolutely perfect day xx

Sofie's Block #10

My Block #10

Sofie and I both finished our AWS Block 10 once we got home. It never ceases to amaze me how different they can be. Lynne's will be unique too, can't wait to see it.

Thank you for bearing with me and reading to the end. This is my first time as a blogger and it has been a bit nerve wracking. Wishing you all a happy, safe and prosperous New Year filled with fun, friendship, love and of course STITCHING!!
